The hardest part of getting older is not the years. It is the day someone decides you cannot be on your own anymore. Clagstone is being planned so that day comes later, or does not come at all.
Envisioned connectivity would make a doctor’s visit a video call instead of a long drive, and family one clear call away. Everything is being designed to be quiet and level and plowed, with nothing to fight in a February storm.
The neighborly side of the technology, which we are still designing thoughtfully, would mean someone could gently know if something was not right. Not cameras hovering over you. The same opt-in, transparent system envisioned for the whole neighborhood, pointed at care instead of surveillance.
What is real today is the setting that makes any of it worth doing: fifty-eight legacy homesites of six acres, give or take, sited to hold a single-story home without crowding a neighbor. Public paved roads. Roads plowed by Lakes Highway District. Twenty-six minutes to a good hospital in Coeur d’Alene, an hour to Spokane International for the longer visits.
The support radius is real today, not planned. Heritage HealthHeritage HealthPrimary care clinics across Kootenai County, including Rathdrum.myheritagehealth.org runs a full primary-care clinic in Rathdrum about fifteen minutes away, walk-in urgent care sits in Hayden, and Kootenai HealthKootenai HealthRegional medical center, Level II trauma, Coeur d'Alene.kh.org in Coeur d’Alene is the region’s Level II trauma center. The senior centers in Spirit Lake and Rathdrum serve hot lunches and deliver meals to neighbors who cannot come in, the volunteer kind of care that predates any network. Idaho’s property-tax reduction for homeowners over sixty-five helps the fixed-income math, and the state does not tax Social Security.
It is designed so people can stay in their own home, near neighbors who know them, with their dignity fully intact. That is not an amenity. It is the whole point of doing it right.
Planned amenity, not launch-day. The connectivity and neighborly-tech pieces are on the roadmap for later phases. Phase 1 is the plat, the roads, and the land itself.
All of that sits on actual ground. See the fifty-eight on the plat →
